The Brain is wider than the Sky
KWAG, Summer 2018

The Brain is wider than the Sky is an exhibition curated by Crystal Mowry at the Kitchener Waterloo Art Gallery (KWAG). Here’s an excerpt from Crystal’s text:

“Tara Cooper’s installation takes its name from the first line of a poem by Sue Goyette. In this text, Goyette crafts a subtle, yet mysterious, personification of the Atlantic Ocean. Vast, but within reach, the ocean seems to want more from us than simple adoration; it wants to know that our infatuation is sincere and is curious to know how we imagine its existence.”

My installation is titled “The ocean is the original mood ring”. Special thanks to Terry O’Neill who collaborated on the film, the design of the tables and forging, Timothy Belliveau who did the glass blowing, and Rick Nixon for his expertise and “chops” in making the tables.
